the sights and sounds of spring

It's getting to be green around the yard!

Leaves are unfurling, birds are chirping,

Pink flowers are emerging, chipmunks are scrambling,

If that wasn't enough, strange little red fuzzy things are growing on tree limbs:

Look! Over there! My checkerboard tulips came up again:

And the one sure-fire herald of spring (besides the robins and baby raccoons)

(B says: #%$@#! Something built a nest in this thing during the winter!)

Yup. We get all of that here too, except checkerboard tulips.

I'm every bit as thrilled as you are! Been a looong winter. Those checkerboard tulips are actually a type of frittillaria lily. I adore them.

Have you noticed that robins are building their nests really close to the ground? We have two in trees this year...and they're no more than 4 feet off the ground.

Is that you there hiding behind that thing? Funny, I drove out YESTERDAY to take a picture of an old truck that I love that I'm afraid is sold. I had the idea to wear a big ole hat and look at my feet and have my kids take the picture. Unfortunately it was raining and I was the ony nut willing to get out of the car for the photo. We MUST be riding some weird wave of astrological goop...

Great photos!

It's probably a robin. They are sweet but bad nest location scouts.

Blogger or Google or SOMETHING is not letting me view any pix just now, so I'll have to come back to see all of this.

Something about the orange Crocs takes away from his credibility as a mechanic...

I miss spring. Here in TX, we have summer from February to mid-November.

Purty!

Seeing that mower reminds me....I'm trying to get the spouse to want an electric one.

Gas mowers are worse than coal powered plants for the environment.

(Not really, but that's what I'm telling him.)

Whole lot of nothing going on

Last week, I got covid. For the third time, and this one was unpleasant in ways that I don't really want to talk about. (Life tip: NO ...
