dora distress

Please, for the love of GOD, someone tell me their kids have outgrown Dora The Explorer and her asinine sidekick Boots the footwear-challenged?

And WHEN did it happen?

Waaaay back at the Spring Carnival this year at the school, Rosey-Roo spied a haul of Dora VHS tapes. I was a mean, mean Mom and made her just pick out one, which she did after pondering each for what felt like hours.

She picked out the one where Dora's Mama has a baby. And she looooves it.

And I smile, and try to be anywhere else in the house, and smile, and hope the VCR will eat the darned thing before I have to take matters into my own hands.

I think my girls outgrew Dora around age 5 -- well, six for the older one and by 5 for the younger one. Since R has an older brother, this phase can't last too much longer. He'll clue her in soon enough that Dora is for little kids.

In fact, get him to mention that Dora is for little kids. He'll be glad to humiliate her.

Shortman was too old for Dora. But I had Aladdin memorized at one point.

Y'all are VERY WISE.

Using humiliation as a force for (my) good!

And oh, Ree, I can STILL quote most of Monsters, Inc.

"You're tooooo late. You'll never find it now!"

We are in the midst of Dora-mania right now. The girl's friend is just over three and is already onto princesses. I think Dora is a little more palatable than princesses, though.

I hear that 5/6 is when Hannah Montana hits. Oh joy...

I feel the same way about the Little Engine That Could and The Magic Railroad (the worst movie ever made IMHO which took a reasonably good kids' show Thomas the Tank and screwed it up beyond belief).

D-D-D-Dora! D-Dora! D-Dora! D-Dora! Yeah!

Swiper, no swiping!
Swiper, no swiping!
Swiper, no swiping!

Oh meeeeean!

We are smack dab in the middle of Dora mania. The worst kind.

I was so happy that my kids were too old when Dora's loud mouth made its appearance!

I'll agree with Jen and witchypoo, nothing gets rid of something quicker than a big brother saying that something is NOT COOL!

Will it make you hate me if I tell you I have never seen Dora the Explorer in my life? And probably never will?

Ha ha ha! *raspberry* my kids were already in their teens when Dora hit the airwaves. It makes me nauseous. (and Ali wants you to know she hates it, too!)

Yes, yes, yes! My kids outgrew it when I wasn't even looking. Now they hate Dora, they roll their eyes at how young it is. They were 5 and 7 when it feel by the wayside. Now what the heys up with Toopy and Binoo? I mean, really!

Welcome to my hell*LOL* eight 2 year-olds , everyday............if they even get a whiff of a book it's like pavlov"s dogs. How many times can a 42 year old woman read dora's picnic??I had no idea that her mum had a baby! Geesh did she have a c-section or did it go through the play-dough fun factory of life??*LOL*

You know, if it's not one obnoxious cartoon character, it's another. That guy on Blues Clues use to irritate me. Then it was Dora and Boots. Then there was Maney on that show with the talking tools. Now we have Transformers. The fun just never ends.

The Boy still likes her. Much better than Diego.

And if I go crazy someday, you can bet I will be singing the damn Map song.

I missed Dora. We had Barney the purple dinosaur. If I heard that damn dinosaur sing again, I was going to, well you know turn the tv off...

I hypnotize my children when picking out kids movies. It's the only way to live.

Good luck but I fear you're on a slippery slope here...

It ends but sometimes she hosts a revival that makes me shudder. I was thinking of converting the DVDs into coasters to prevent further revival festivals. Good luck and should I send you ear plugs?

Yes, they outgrow it...but don't expect it just yet, lol. Just run and hide from the videos and thank god that it's not Barney. :P
