yip yip whine yip

The dog is busy shredding his umpteenth-thousandth squeaky-toy. I could go broke keeping him in plastic newspapers and chewy-ropes. (At least it's not shoes, right?)

I really like the medium-sized brown menace. I do. He pees outside (okay, he's had two accidents) and he plays with his toys and he entertains my children. (And occasionally leaves small puppy-sized holes in them.) For the most part, everyone (excluding the cats, who are plotting his death) agrees - he's a really nice puppy.

But I realized something yesterday.

I LIKE OLD DOGS.

Yep I've only had one dog in my life and she was 12 when we got her and in that time tons of my friends have gotten puppies and I have decided that I, like you, like older dogs too! That's good though, those dogs too often get left in the pound.

Yeah. I've learned my lesson. We only foster OLDER dogs, at least a year. But man those Lab Puppies will melt your heart they are so cute!

I finally went to the hardware store and got marine quality rope for chew toys. I tied knots in the end, and they are virtually indestructible. And cheap.

Hang in there...Janie just turned one year old, and now she obeys!

Older dogs really are less work, but some days the cuteness factor is hard to overcome.

I am dealing with Gabby starting to chew things up. I guess I should be lucky at 12 weeks she weighs 2.4lbs? lol

She thinks my hands and ears are her chew toys.

Can't wait to see pics of Jasper with the kiddies! (hint hint)

Yes...old blind and deaf dogs who sleep all day on a giant pillow and only leave it to poop or eat.

wordgirl - 'XACTLY.

There's something so nice and mellow about an old dog...we've fostered old 'uns, too, Margaret and Dawn, and I think I got spoiled...
Ang and Posy - See, I knew someone would feel my pain. (God, that phrase is so eighties!)
Liz - Oh, but you NEED one. How will your chilluns grow up wothout one?? Hee!
Heather - Did you have your two as puppies? I've never seen B puppies.

I've had both puppies and old dawgs, and while both are wonderful I'm partial to the dawgs. The husband loves puppies. I do, too -- but dogs are lovely.
