You should add to the "And the dog bites" another line "So do the homeowners."
I like the addition of the homeowners biting. :)
My sign would look something like "Our dog is on Prozac. Really. If you don't want to find out why, leave now."

Hah genius. I usually invite door to door religious folk in for a nice stiff drink. The earlier in the day the better this works. They figure you're beyond saving.

In South Africa I saw a sign that says "Our dog is fast, do you really think you can beat him to the door?"

I guess there's one advantage to never being home during the day...I always miss them.
