tangerine trees and marmalade skies

My mother had her gallbladder removed today.

She sailed through the operation (go Mom!) and did so well she was discharged this afternoon - and now she's home, being cosseted and pampered by my step-father.

He called me this afternoon to report how she was getting along, and I could hear her in the background, wondering aloud how my family was doing. There was perhaps the slightest suggestion of pie-eyed in her voice.

'Can I talk to her?' Rich snorted and passed the phone over.

'Hi, Momma! Are you really loopy?'

There was a short silence. 'That's Lupe to you', she said, and spoiled it with a giggle.

and somewhere, the Beatles begin to sing

Picture yourself in a boat on a river......

Yup. I got her sense of humour.

There's nothing quite like being stoned after some sort of surgical procedure. Apparently I was hilarious after I had my wisdom teeth removed.

Well, you certainly inherited some good things from your mom. By the way, liked your last post too but I was depressed after trying to write a letter to my body which has resulted in it declaring itself to be an independent state.

ah the joys of medicine! finn's still terrified from what happened to me after I was sedated for a gastroscopy. apparently I entertained the whole waiting room by trying to brush that awful numbing taste out of my mouth. publicly. in the waiting area. I just wandered out of the bathroom while brushing my teeth. not that I remember ;)

The ONLY good thing about surgery - the lovely opiates you are prescribed for recovery.
I have discovered if one goes IN for the surgery with no spouse or family at check-in, the nursing staff is so horrified that you were essentially 'sent out of the car while it was still coasting', those lovely nurses lovingly dote and one could receive IV Relaxation much earlier than those whose spouses lurk, looking worried and sending one's blood pressure rocketing.
That is one hell of a run-on sentence but I'm blazing out the door to get 2 fellows off to school.

Woohoo, mom's feeling GOOD! I hope the meds she's got for when the good stuff wears off is at least as good.

Well, did she have the lapro? If so, it's a lot easier to recover from than the previous invasive method. Glad she's feeling no pain! Happy weekend to all concerned.
