eeyore tree

My Christmas tree is still up.

We've had several ornaments broken* - either a giant happy sweep of the dog's tail or the brush-by of a running child - and yet I can't make myself take the thing down.

The ornaments, instead of being strung out in lovely, precisely-spaced order? Are clumped on branches.

I've run into it a few times while wielding the vacuum, so it's pushed farther back in the corner than it's supposed to be.

But it still looks lovely to me - all the sweet lights, my brand-new (gift from B!) tin angel at the top, the reminders of Christmases gone by....

*happy sigh*

So pretty. Especially....especially.....

if I squint a little.

(The title? Eeyore: Oh botherrrr.)

*Hi! I'm Jess. (Hi Jess!) And I'm the Gluemaster.

All I have left of glass ornaments are a few antiques. I was looking for some turquoise balls to set in a big dish and then remembered I gave them away. Who knows when I'll get around to deconstructing the tree? There's lots of room for it, and I didn't have to move a thing to put it up. I used to love it when the kids would help decorate. Their enthusiasm was a thing of beauty.

Still don't understand the Eeyore reference but he is my favorite Winnie the Pooh character.

Hey we only take our tree down on the 6th...some Catholic thing, the epiphany I believe...so that's one reason to keep it up a little longer!!

My tree didn't have any ornaments on it this year.

It's still in the living room-even though I'm no longer Catholic, I still cling to the tradition of keeping the tree up until at least the 6th.

I too think you have to wait till the 6th of January to take down the tree (12 days of Christmas, Epiphany etc) but ours is looking so dried up that I'm getting trigger-happy. Only once it is down I suppose I'll have to clean up the loungeroom, so let's not rush things....

The cat kept climbing our tree and trying to eat the ribbons on the presents. Our tree came down the Saturday after Christmas. Tired of dragging the cat out of it.

Stupid cat...

I think we need to take ours down tomorrow - Jan 4th. Our ornament spacing is not idela either, as Pumpkinpie helped, but she was so happy to be in charge of the lower branches, it doesn't matter. And I have never had anything breakable due to cats, and now kids.

And when we took our tree down I was full of wonder, I am every year, at just how used the tree looks by the time of dismantling.

(But I still have three more smaller trees to go.)
