Me: (blearily) Hello?
Friend: (bellowing) IT'S YES WE CAN DAY! Aren't you up YET? THIS IS THE DAY WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! Bush is HISTORY!
Me: Um. (lip-smack) Yes.
Friend: Aren't you celebrating?
Me: Well, I will when I get up.
Friend: Oops.
....a long pause...
Me: Well, thanks for calling. Probably the nicest alarm-clock message I've had in a long time!
Friend: (still verbally boogie-ing) We did it! He's IN! This is SO COOL!
Me: Um, hon?
Friend: What?
Me: You do remember you're Canadian, right?
I don't blame her for forgetting. This is a wondrous day, and nations all over the world are celebrating, not just the States.
Yes, WE
YES, WE DID!

It's pretty awesome. I can just imagine it would be even sweeter to experience it as an American. Enjoy!
Yay!
Thank goodness we did, or I might have become a Canadian!
still have goosebumps...
Today is an awesome day!
I'm so happy, I don't even care that there is SNOW forecasted for central florida tonight!
Can't. Stop. Grinning.
Yes.We.Did.
And what clickmom said!
It's wondrous to experience all of the hope, joy, and wonder for the future. It's a big old dose of what is good for us all.
I am glad everyone is happy. I hope that we as Americans don't put him on too high a pedestal. It could be a long way down.
I'm proud to be American...even if it is only 1/2!
Happy Obama Day!!
I voted for Obama - twice. I even changed my party affiliation so I could vote for him in the primary. I'm VERY excited. And yet, I worry. The expectations are so high. He's only human. We have to make sure we don't start worshiping him.
It's the only time I've ever wished to be American. He is the greatest!
How can you sleep on such a historical day?!!!! I'm just kidding. I was actually trying to sleep but my wife insisted on watching the inauguration and waking me up whenever she thought something interesting was going on. Hence I put a "sleepy" mood avatar on my blog a couple of days ago.
Oh, I think the whole world got to be American last Tuesday.
I'm Australian and I still got goosebumps about this!
Yay.
