Well, yesterday the chillens took their sidewalk chalk and decorated our doorstep
And today we not only broke out the air conditioning, the two played with something I couldn't believe the grocery store was selling - I was incredulous that they're still being made...
a Slip 'N' Slide.
And while there wasn't a whole lot of sliding (C couldn't make his body bend the right way and would end up with his knees in front of him each time, and R really just didn't want to) there were lots and lots of grins and shouts and 'chase me!'s' and general summerish horseplay.
So I sat outside in my big white chair and watched my colts frolic and couldn't imagine a better way to spend a summer afternoon.
Hello, summer. We've missed you.

I do so love Slip 'n' Slides!!!
That was always a toy I wanted, but never had. How cool that you're the mom who gets the kids the fun stuff!
Ok so now all you need is the Tither Tennis and the Twister and that's an instant party.
I'm glad your kids understand that, if you pounce on Slip N Slides the way the kids on the ads do, it HURTS! Your kids are sensible, sane and not bound for the emergency room.
LOVE the new header picture!
I'd trade some of my ice-cream for that slip and slide. It's as hot as hades up here and I know how hot it can get there. Now that toy is one damn good find.
Wow, they are the BEST fun those things. although pretty sure we're not allowed to have that sort of fun anymore here, what with the water shortages.
Love the chalk - cannot WAIT to do that with my children one day once I finally fall pregnant! As a kid I could not live without my slip and slide - probably the best thing to do ever! :)
Thanks Sarah O, We could 'ave used your disclaimer last year. My daughter got one for her birthday and after about 45 seconds my son (who desperatly needs a bubble) was hurt and writhing on the ground. Glad your kids are just that much more sane. Ya summer! And "chilluns" is just one of those things we call ours. I've probably already said this.
One must be very young to get their body to "bend right" for the slip and slide.
ey didn't have those slip-n'-slides when I was a kid, my my kids sure enjoyed them! Love the step art, neat!
My parents were not sidewalk chalk folks so when my kids came around, I indulged them over and over. My mother commented on the mess but I loved the fact that it was like a big sign that said "Children live here". And somehow, in our litigious society, I figured slip n' slides were outlawed. I'm glad they're still around.
Oh the memories of Slip and Slide!
Sounds idyllic.....
Oooh I love slip 'n slides!!
What a lot of fun!
we bought a blow up pool at target over the weekend - the best was coming home from work, sticking the kid in the pool and sitting in my chair with a gin & tonic and my feet hanging over the edge. ah, summer.
hey, we're freezing over here. send the summer back when you're done!
