searching for old wives advice

Is it REALLY true that kids get pneumonia if they go outside and play in the snow and falling rain? Really really?

Today....is a snow day.

The weekend spent indoors wasn't too bad, but we're on the third straight day and I swear if I poked a pin in the general area of mah chilluns they would pop! with suppressed energy.

The dog is eating a rock. A rock, people. He's that stupid bored.

B had to take the car in for inspection - he didn't seem all that broken-up to leave, come to think of it. Hmmm.

I'm going to go make muffins. Maybe if I mix some multi-vitamins in they won't get sick when I give in to their begging and pleading and shove let them play outdoors.

I'd be very tempted to just let them out too! Not that I know much about living in that cold though ;)

The old wives say put a mustard plaster on their chests if they are congested, the less old wives say Vicks VapoRub.
Snow day here too. The mail was delivered however. I felt sorry for the mailman.

No snow here, but perhaps if you are afraid they will get sick, you could lock yourself outside instead? Or has it reached that level? ;)

I guess I'm wondering why Bear got to take the car in?

The rule in my house was a kid on snow days was that you had to be outside playing in it. Have no guilt in imposing the same rule!

i sent mine outside, even though the middle one is coughing like a TB victim. i figure the fresh air will do them good...i say let them stay out as long as they can, and then give 'em hot cocoa and cinnamon toast when they come in. then they can all lie down with books or crayons or whatever, and you don't have to feel guilty : )

Cold does not cause colds. Or pneumonia. Or warts. Or anything except getting cold. Shove 'em outside.

Nah, it won't kill them, but they might or might not think you're the world's meanest mom. :-)

I hope they can get to go out- if just for your sanity!

Send them out. They'll look back on those days fondly!!

"Didn't we have such great time in the snow when we were little?"

It'll come in handy when climate change brings a swift end to snow!

This old wife thinks you should bundle them up and let them of. Your sanity is likely at stake. I know of what I speak. We lived WAY up north when ours was chilluns....
