driving home in the dark

Driving home in the dark is the nicest thing after work. (At least on sultry summer nights.)

I'm free to open the windows, to let the cool(ish) air sweep in and clear the car, cool my body, clear my mind. It signals to me that work is over, that now is the time to relax and sift through things until that moment when I hop into bed and lay my head down.

And what could be better than a big draught of crisp sea-side air?

Nothing, that's what. If I open my car window at the moment, the rain would drill holes in the side of my head!

I moved to central Canada in 2001 from the west coast and the thing that I miss the most is being on the ocean. I'd easily put up with the rain in Vancouver to be by the sea....
